Attestation of affidavit, Declaration or Powers of Attorney

How to Apply

  1. Visit https://indianconsularservices.mea.gov.in/ and select:
    • Country: New Zealand
    • Mission: New Zealand – Auckland
    • Service: the relevant service (e.g. Attestation of Affidavit/Civil Documents/Power of Attorney)
  2. Read "Information at a Glance before Apply", then click "Consular Service application form online".
  3. Register or log in, then complete and submit the online application.
  4. Upload the documents listed for your specific service (see the section below). If the website does not request a document that is listed as required and is applicable to you, combine it with another document you are uploading.
  5. Once the online scrutiny is completed, an email will be received. Book an appointment through the CGI website https://www.cgiauckland.gov.in/apt/ and select "Other Miscellaneous Applications – Counter No. 1"
  6. Visit the Consulate General of India, Auckland on the booked date with all original documents and the supporting copies listed for your service.

Attestation of Affidavit, Declaration or Power of Attorney

Any Affidavit, Declaration or Power of Attorney intended for use in India may be attested at the Consulate.

Fee: NZ$ 21 (modes of payment).

Documents required:

  1. Completed and signed Miscellaneous Consular Services application form.
  2. Original and one copy of the Affidavit, Declaration or Power of Attorney to be attested.
    • The executant(s) / applicant(s) must sign the document in front of the Consular Officer at the Consulate.
    • If the application is submitted by post: the document must first be signed by the executant(s), then notarised by a Notary Public (www.notarypublic.org.nz), and finally apostilled/authenticated by the Department of Internal Affairs (www.dia.govt.nz/apostille). See the DIA website for the authentication procedure.
    • For a Power of Attorney, the executant's photograph must be pasted on the document.
  3. Payment proof of the applicable fee (modes of payment).
  4. Coloured copy of the first and last pages of your current passport, attested by a Justice of the Peace.
  5. Copy of your current and valid New Zealand visa, or OCI Card.

Please note: Digitally signed copies cannot be attested.
