About the e-OCI Card

• The e-OCI Card is an electronic version of the Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. It contains the particulars of the OCI cardholder available in the OCI records.
• The e-OCI Card is a digital representation of the OCI Card. It is intended to facilitate convenient access to OCI cardholder details in electronic form, and it does not alter the validity or status of the existing OCI Card holders.
• The facility of downloading the e-OCI Card is provided free of cost.
• Applicants only need to log in to the OCI Portal using the email address linked to their OCI record and submit a request to generate the e-OCI Card. No additional information is required to download the e-OCI Card.

Miscellaneous OCI related Services

Please note that now onwards the requirement of re-issuance of OCI in the following cases has been removed:

• Issuance of a new passport after completion of 20 years or 50 years of age.
• Updation of personal particulars (such as name, nationality, gender, etc.).

You no longer need to apply for a fresh OCI Card. Simply update your details ONLINE through the OCI Portal and download your updated e-OCI Card.

Procedure

1) Visit the OCI Services Portal at https://ociservices.gov.in 

2) Log in, click online registration, and then select OCI Miscellaneous Services.

3) Access your OCI profile by entering your:

• Passport number last linked to your OCI Card
• OCI Card number
• Date of Birth

4) Select the required service:

• Passport Particulars Updation
• Personal Particulars Updation (including name, nationality or passport details, address / occupation)
• Address / Occupation Updation

5) Complete the online application, upload the required documents and submit the application.

6) Your application will be processed online by the Consulate.

7) Once your application is approved, your updated OCI Card details will appear on the dashboard. Click on the e-OCI Card tab to generate and download your updated e-OCI Card.

Important Notes

• OCI Cardholders updating their passport particulars after obtaining a new passport on or after attaining the age of 20 years are required to mandatorily update their biometric details at the Consulate or at an International Airport during the next international travel.
• Passport particulars must be updated within 90 days of issuance of a new passport. Ensure your application is submitted within 90 days to avoid a late penalty of NZD 46.

Documents required

• In case of issuance of new passport: a copy of the OCI Card, the new passport and the old passport. If the old passport is not returned by the concerned authorities while issuing the new passport, a copy of the old passport may not be enclosed.
• In case of change of personal particulars: copy of document(s) relevant for effecting the requisite changes. Sufficient proof for each requested service, such as change of name, change of address or occupation, is to be furnished.
• Address proof – electricity bill or landline phone bill or undertaking letter of the concerned person or rent / lease agreement.
• There is no restriction on the OCI cardholder to travel to / from India during the period from the date of issue of the new passport till the date of final acknowledgement of his / her documents in the online system. The e-OCI Card shall ordinarily be updated in one month from the date of acknowledgement of the application on the online system. No fee shall be refunded if the requisite service(s) are not granted. The e-OCI Card shall be updated in respect of any / all service(s) (except in cases of change of address / occupation).
