How to Apply
- Visit https://indianconsularservices.mea.gov.in/ and select:
- Country: New Zealand
- Mission: New Zealand – Auckland
- Service: the relevant service (e.g. Birth Certificate - Self)
- Read "Information at a Glance before Apply", then click "Consular Service application form online".
- Register or log in, then complete and submit the online application.
- Upload the documents listed for your specific service (see the service-specific section below). If the website does not request a document that is listed as required and is applicable to you, combine it with another document you are uploading.
- Once the online scrutiny is completed, an email will be received. Book an appointment through the CGI website https://www.cgiauckland.gov.in/apt/ and select "Other Miscellaneous Applications – Counter No. 1".
- Visit the Consulate General of India, Auckland on the booked date with all original documents and the supporting copies listed for your service.
Certificate of Birth
A Certificate of Birth is issued based on the entries recorded in the applicant's Indian Passport. Whether this certificate is sufficient for New Zealand immigration purposes should be verified directly with the relevant NZ authorities. A formal Birth Certificate can only be obtained from the concerned Registrar of Births and Deaths in India.
Documents required:
- Completed and signed Miscellaneous Consular Services application form.
- Payment proof — fee of NZ$45 (modes of payment).
- Copy of the first and last pages of your current Indian passport (original to be carried to the Consulate for verification).
- Copy of your current and valid New Zealand visa.
