The Consulate General of India in Auckland took part in Fieldays for the first time, at New Zealand's premier agricultural event held from 10 to 13 June 2026 at Mystery Creek, Hamilton. Recognised as the largest agricultural event in the Southern Hemisphere, Fieldays showcases the full breadth of the agriculture, food processing, dairy and meat sectors — from equipment and technology to software and innovative production methods. The four-day event drew around 1,100 exhibitors from New Zealand and around the world and recorded a footfall of approximately 133,000 visitors.

Marking India's first-ever presence at Fieldays, the Consulate set up an India Pavilion to showcase the country through graphics, information and interactive technology. The pavilion offered information booklets covering an overview of India, key highlights of the India–New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA), India's principal exports to New Zealand, New Zealand's key exports to India, and foreign direct investment (FDI) opportunities in India. Two interactive touch-screen kiosks provided information on Indian cities across business, education, healthcare and tourism, while a dedicated screen helped visitors understand the benefits both countries stand to gain once the FTA comes into force. Visitors could also experience India through an immersive augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) display.

The India Pavilion was inaugurated on 10 June by the High Commissioner of India to New Zealand, Her Excellency Ms Muanpuii Saiawi, together with Hon Todd McClay, Minister of Agriculture; Hon Tama Potaka, Minister of Conservation; Hon Louise Upston, Minister for Tourism and Hospitality; and Hon Damien O'Connor, in the presence of around 200 guests. In her address, the High Commissioner spoke about the significance of India's participation in Fieldays and affirmed that India would continue to take part in the years ahead. Minister McClay highlighted the benefits of the India–New Zealand FTA for both countries and the opportunities it would create for trade and economic cooperation. Minister Upston welcomed the concise four-page booklets, which presented key information on the FTA and India in a simple, accessible format.

The pavilion quickly became a focal point of the event, drawing strong interest from visitors as well as senior journalists from the NZ and diaspora media. Over the four days, the India Pavilion welcomed around 5,000 visitors, marking a successful debut for India at one of New Zealand's most significant national events.
