The Consulate General of India, Auckland, in association with the Waikato Chamber of Commerce and in collaboration with Fern Bridge, hosted an engaging business event on 'Entering the Indian Market and Opportunities under the India-New Zealand FTA' at The Garden Room, SkyCity, Hamilton. The event brought together business leaders and stakeholders interested in expanding trade and investment ties with India.
Consul General Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi delivered the keynote address, highlighting the growing India-New Zealand bilateral relationship, the significance of the recently signed FTA, and the increasing opportunities in trade, investment, mobility and people-to-people connectivity. He emphasised that CGI Auckland and its Commercial Team remain committed to facilitating New Zealand businesses interested in engaging with India.
Ms. Mallika Janakiraman shared key insights on the FTA framework, tariff-related quotas, regulatory requirements, certifications, and the importance of local partnerships for successful market entry. She also highlighted emerging opportunities for New Zealand's Manuka Honey and Lamb Meat sectors, as well as India's Textile and Apparel industry.
Mr. Samit Skaria spoke about India's improving ease of doing business ecosystem, simplified trade procedures and single-window clearances, and addressed common myths versus realities about entering the Indian market.
