Entry Visa

Persons of Indian origin holding a foreign passport, their spouses and children must apply for an Entry Visa to visit India. The foreign spouse of an Indian national is also eligible for an Entry Visa.

Documents Required

Completed and signed visa application form, with the photograph uploaded vertically.

Original passport, valid for at least six months from the date of travel.

Two photographs (2” x 2”). Photographs larger than this may be cut to the required size. If you do not have two photographs identical to the one uploaded online, provide your latest, closely matching photographs. Detailed photograph specifications are available here.

Visa fee as per the fee schedule. Fee can be paid using a debit card at the Consulate.

For non-New Zealand nationals and those holding dual nationality: additional form, completed and signed.

For a foreign spouse requiring an Entry Visa: a copy of the Marriage Certificate is mandatory. If the marriage is registered in a foreign country, the certificate must be Apostilled or authenticated by the Government of the country of issue.

If the applicant was an Indian national before: proof of renunciation of Indian citizenship, in the form of the Indian Citizenship Renunciation / Surrender Certificate, along with a copy of the cancelled Indian passport. Without this document, the application will be returned.

If the applicant has not yet applied for cancellation of the Indian passport, the original Indian passport must be submitted for cancellation along with the requisite form and fee, as per the procedure.

Important Note

Holding or acquiring an Indian passport, or travelling on an Indian passport, after acquiring foreign citizenship is an offence under the Indian Passports Act, 1967.
