Registration of Death of an Indian National

Registration of death of an Indian national (this service is free of charge)

Death of an Indian national must be registered with Consulate General of India Auckland at the earliest. 


Please supply the following documents:

1. Completed and signed application form for Miscellaneous Consular Services (to be filled by next of kin).

2. Original Indian Passport of the deceased for cancellation.

3. A photograph of the deceased [if available].

4. A letter from next of kin having full name, address and telephone number. In case there is no next of kin in New Zealand, a signed no objection or authority letter would be required from the family in India.

5. Original Death Certificate issued by Births, Deaths & Marriages- Department of Internal Affairs, New Zealand.

6. Original cremation/ burial certificate.

7. Coroner’s report (may be required in certain cases).

8. All documents must be submitted in original along with one set of photocopies.

9. A self-addressed courier envelope for return of documents by the Consulate. Separate envelopes need to be provided for multiple applications.
